Despite the hard challenges of 2020, Avia Prime continues routine maintenance with their contracted customers. The MRO Group is providing maintenance activities for airlines and operators as European travel demand slowly rebounds. One of the contracted customers that cooperates with Avia Prime’s subsidiary MROs is the Lufthansa group. As many as five airlines owned by the German Group have been serviced by Avia Prime for numerous years. Since late 2018 Avia Prime has upheld two base-maintenance lines for Lufthansa Group Embraer E190 jets in Katowice Airport, where its subsidiary, LINETECH operates. For numerous years Lufthansa Group jets have also been serviced at Adria Tehnika in Ljubljana, where A320 family and CRJ aircraft come. To go along with its maintenance capabilities Adria Tehnika also offers a package allowing airlines to park their aircraft and additionally receive maintenance simultaneously. This was an option that some of the Lufthansa Group member airlines took in the later part of 2020.
Airframe maintenance provided for the German group in 2020 are totaling at almost 70 aircraft. Compared to 2019 figures the drop in MRO outsourced to Avia Prime is relatively small, proving the great effort Lufthansa Group took to successfully manage through
challenges of last year.
Avia Prime announced that their successful cooperation will be carried out again, announcing a contract extension for the Katowice E190 lines for Air Dolomiti. Some of the checks are already planned, with airplanes coming back in late 2021. Work at Adria Tehnika
is also proceeding to the future.
“This close bond formed between Avia Prime and the Lufthansa Group greatly benefit both parties. We are happy to work with the legacy carriers, as those greatly benefit our already wide and diversified portfolio. On the other hand, our experience with E190, CRJ, and A320-family provides shortened Turn-Around-Time and opens up for the possibility of more ambitious projects and modifications. We continue to prove that third party MRO can be a great asset to the in-house capabilities of an airline, especially as cost-effectiveness is so crucial now” – lists Piotr Kaczor, CEO of Avia Prime Group. To date Avia Prime has performed nose to tail procedures on 12 of Air Dolomiti aircraft at their base in Katowice. Alongside carrying out checks on the aircraft they also performed specific modifications. Lufthansa CityLine another subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group has also regularly had their E190 aircraft undergo checks with Avia Prime in Katowice.
“We’re glad to confirm the extension of the contract with LINETECH for the base maintenance of our E195 fleet. During these years we’ve been able to appreciate the very good cooperation and how LINETECH has demonstrated to be a reliable MRO” – says Marzio Caneva, Vice President Technical Operations of Air Dolomiti.
